Khanh Hoa Expands Air Routes To Attract Korean Tourists
Airlines have expanded their flight networks connecting Cam Ranh (Khanh Hoa) with major cities in South Korea. At the same time, the province continues to ramp up connection activities, promotions, and marketing efforts to draw more visitors from the “Land of Morning Calm” to Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa.
Expanding Air Connectivity
In recent years, South Korea has become the largest source market for tourism in Khanh Hoa. Korean travelers are drawn to this land of agarwood not only for its scenic beauty but also for its flavorful cuisine and friendly locals. In Nha Trang, a vibrant Korean neighborhood has emerged, home to hotels, restaurants, cafes, spas, and shops selling clothing, footwear, and souvenirs tailored for Korean tourists. Korean eateries like Ot Hiem, Ba Toi, Man, and Xom Moi Garden are often packed with Korean customers and frequently featured on social media.
“In Korea, there’s plenty of buzz about traveling to Nha Trang. Many people return and share exciting reviews, which convinced me to invite my close friend to come here for a summer getaway,” said Ms. Song Jeong Eun, a tourist from Busan, after arriving in Cam Ranh on a Vietnam Airlines flight.

Expanded flight network creates favorable conditions for Korean tourists visiting Khanh Hoa.
Attractive tourism offerings and enhanced flight accessibility have fueled steady growth in Korean arrivals. According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Khanh Hoa welcomed over 812,800 Korean visitors in the first four months of 2025—a 6.5% increase compared to the same period last year. These figures underscore the crucial role and strong potential of the Korean market for both Vietnam’s tourism industry and Khanh Hoa province in particular. In May alone, the number of Korean passengers through Cam Ranh International Airport reached 181,714 (inbound and outbound), marking a 3% increase from the previous month.
This stable growth presents an opportunity for airlines to further expand their route networks between major Korean cities and Khanh Hoa. Most recently, Vietnam Airlines launched a daily Busan – Cam Ranh route, bringing more tourists from South Korea’s second-largest city. According to Cam Ranh International Airport, nine airlines are now operating 19 flights per day from Seoul (Incheon Airport), Busan, Cheongju, and Daegu to Cam Ranh.
Strengthening Tourism Promotion Efforts
According to Mr. Cung Quynh Anh – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism – the steady growth of direct flights from Korea offers a golden opportunity for Khanh Hoa to attract even more Korean tourists. However, to maintain and grow this market, the province must continue to invest in promotional campaigns and invite Korean famtrip delegations to experience and explore Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa firsthand for wider reach.
With this strategy in mind, the Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association partnered with Vietnam Airlines to organize a famtrip to promote tourism in Daegu and Busan from June 3-7. During a working session with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) office in Busan, Mr. Pham Minh Nhut – Chairman of the Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association – and the delegation shared key information about the destination, such as its natural advantages, diverse tourism offerings, appealing cuisine, and hospitable people. They also requested support from the KTO office in Busan to strengthen promotional efforts and help attract more Korean tourists to the province.
“The leadership at the KTO Busan office highly valued Khanh Hoa’s tourism appeal and committed to supporting promotional campaigns, helping introduce Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa to Korean travel companies and tourists,” Mr. Nhut shared. At a broader level, Khanh Hoa’s provincial leaders are developing plans to further expand tourism cooperation with South Korea. During a meeting on June 6 with Korean Consul General Shin Choong Il in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee – discussed expanding collaboration with Korea across key economic sectors, including tourism. Consul General Shin emphasized South Korea’s strong interest in developing tourism ties with Khanh Hoa, one of Vietnam’s top tourist destinations favored by Korean travelers.
By the end of June 2025, the Korea Tourism Organization is scheduled to meet with the provincial government to discuss cooperation programs and strategies to boost tourism development between Khanh Hoa and Korean localities.
